All-new Full Electric Porsche Cayenne Makes World Debut [w/video]
[ad_1]
The all-new full electric Porsche Cayenne has just been shown to the world. The latest-gen of the brand’s top-selling SUV will be offered alongside hybrid and ICE variants. This is a bit of a turnaround as it seemed that Porsche was committing both of its SUVs to battery powere only going forward, as it is doing with the Boxster and Cayman.
The Cayenne Electric shows performance in a completely new dimension, with innovative technologies that we have developed in motorsport. It sets new standards in the SUV segment – in terms of driving characteristics as well as charging. Outstanding electric performance meets very real everyday usability. Excellent long-distance comfort combines with uncompromising off-road capability

The Most Powerful
The full electric Porsche Cayenne follows on from it smaller sibling, latest Porsche Macan to go down this road. It is part of an increased electrified line-up that includes the Taycan. The larger of the two siblings will be offered in standard guise and the Cayenne Turbo Electric. The entry level version has 300 kW under normal conditions. Activate the launch control and 325 kW along with 835 Nm of torque accelerates it from 0-100 km/h in 4,8 seconds. While its top speed is 230 km/h.
The range-topper has 630 kW on tap usually. Hit the push-to-pass button and a full 850 kW and up to 1 500 N.m is unleashed. These outputs make it the most powerful Porsche road car ever sold. The Cayenne Turbo accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 2,5 seconds, from 0-200 km/h in 7,4 seconds and reaches a top speed of 260 km/h.
The full electric Porsche Cayenne models are powered by a 113 kWh high-voltage battery. The Cayenne Electric has a range of 642 km, and the Turbo has a range of 623 km. The regenerative braking system can recoup up to 600 kW of power under hard braking, which is part of the tech transfer from its involvement in Formula E. The Cayenne electric is also the first Porsche to optionally support inductive charging. This system charges at up to 11 kW. All that Porsche wireless charging requires is for the user to park above a floor plate that can be mounted in one’s garage or place of work.
Driver Engagement
Porsche promises that the latest Cayenne will deliver on driver engagement at the same level as its predecessors. As a result Porsche’s Active Suspension Management system as standard on both versions. Turbo buyers benefit from Porsche’s Torque Vectoring Plus system. Rear-axle steering and Porsche’s Active Ride system are optional extras.
Based on the fact that the battery powered Macan has not yet been introduced locally, and that Taycan sales have been quite slow, we don’t expect the latest Cayenne to go on sale in SA any time soon.
